Holy Handbags!: Nasty Gal Edition

Holy Handbags: Nasty Gal Edition

I'm not one to deny my loves; I am a purse girl. You wouldn't really think I was because I tend to buy 1 purse a year, use it until it falls apart, and then buy another one and so-on. Deep in the chasms of mind my are constant visions of all the purses I want and it makes me feel like such a girl. It's one of the many reasons I know I'm not a butch dude trapped in a ladies body. As of right now, my favorite handbags have all come from one place: Nasty Gal! It's like they all came from the Jetsons movie; you know Judy would be all over these, taking them to go swoon over Cosmic Cosmo at The Teen Club (see the movie, people!!). Anywho, these holographic, clear vinyl, and metallic bags are off the chain. Actually, some are on a chain, but that's beside the point! So far, my favorites are the clear satchel and the silver clutch, but I wouldn't say no to any of them. I also ordered a copy of Nasty Gal founder and CEO, Sophia Amoruso's book #GIRLBOSS, because she seems like a savvy business woman who made herself and her company everything it is today (which is pure awesomeness). I posted a photo of said-purchase on Instagram and what a surprise I got a few hours later:

I have been legitimized! I can die happy now. I was pretty much riding high on that for the rest of the afternoon, even though work royally sucked. I can't wait to get my book and get girlbossy! In the meantime, take a gander at Nasty Gal's cool bag collection and get nasty on it!

An Ode to Everything Jelly

Jellyfull!

Jellyfull! by elbonner featuring flat shoes

I have a problem. It's something I have lived with for as long as I can remember and it always haunts around the spring and summer time. I went so long without it that I thought I'd never see it again, but it's back and I can't wait to get my hands on it. IT'S JELLY TIME!!

If you couldn't tell from the photo above, I love jelly stuff. Whether it be clear, neon, printed, or full of glitter, I love it regardless of what adorns it. Jelly things are not just for the fanny packs and blistering shoes of yesteryear, it's all coming back in the greatest of ways! You can find jelly beach bags, jelly watches, iPad covers, you name it! I am dying to get my hand on a jelly beach bag; Victoria's Secret has some really cool printed ones that make me want one in every color. Even jelly shoes are back! I remember them not really being all that comfortable, but if I could just find a cheap pair and wear them every once in a while I would be totally down with that. Though I would totally destroy my feet for one more carefree day in jellies! Whoever doesn't want a pair of hot pink jelly sandals has no room on my best friends list! Even Baby-G watches in jelly colors are getting popular again. I love that everything that was awesome about my childhood is being made again so I can forget how I'm supposed to be a responsible adult! If you're ready for winter to get the hell out, then bring some jelly into your life for spring!

Surrendering To Fall: OK, I give up

Fall Things

Fall Things by elbonner featuring fall placemats

After a weekend at a beach house, I have come to the tough realization that plagues my life every year: SUMMER IS OVER. I am still holding out for a few more days I can eek out another sun-filled beach trip, but let's face it, the leaves are falling and everyone is drinking/eating pumpkin spice everything. When the weather cools, I don my usual outfit: t-shirt, sweater, army jacket, boots, and scarves. They are a good go-to because they seem to never go out of style and ooze coolness like the filling of a jelly donut (also a fall favorite). Fall is a time to appreciate hot coffee again, get some reading done, and moisturize compulsively.

Now before everyone jumps on me for wearing hipster fox sweaters, I've been wearing fox-themed clothing items since I was a first grader, although my fox-wear was decidedly less cool than what is available today and a lot more like this:

To complete this look, pair with black stretch pants, fanny pack, and a crimped side-pony.

I hate putting on more layers, but I'm convinced fall was created to make me appreciate the warmth more. You might as well make the best of the cooler weather by wearing some cute stuff before everyone's enthusiasm for life is destroyed by winter, because really, fuck winter.
