Video Update: Make Me Happy

Hope you all had a good Memorial Day weekend, for those who celebrate it. I did some backpacking with my boyfriend up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and now I'm sitting here downloading lots of music and reflecting on life and all of the choices I've made and what the hell I'm going to do with myself for the rest of it. This is a common occurrence when I've had a long weekend. It's good to get lots of time to think, but I'm convinced thinking too much can sometimes be dangerous! Until I figure out a whole life that will probably go unfulfilled, enjoy this cute video and the cute song that goes along with it! Makes me want a dancing robot!

Fall Outfits: Gothy Fun!

Fall Outfits: Gothy Fun!

Fall Outfits: Gothy Fun! by elbonner featuring knuckle rings

I have absolutely no problem admitting that I'm a huge Katy Perry fangirl. She's just 100% pure fun and her music is great to rock out to in the car by yourself. Her new album, Prism, is awesome by the way. She also has great style, which brings me to the photo above. She's going through the 90's gothy, grunge phase, which is very in at the moment and I really do like it. Lots of combat boots and Merlot lipstick; it's like living in The Craft without all the curses and shark beachings! This outfit is a personal favorite of mine. I never thought I'd be excited about crushed velvet, but Prince would be so proud of me. Pair with messy hair, a black leather jacket, and a cool place to go and you're practically the baddest bitch on the planet. These velvet dresses are all over ASOS, Nasty Gal, and Forever 21 so you have no excuse not to get one! So break out your NIN records and get dark!

Dress- Lucca Couture

Spooky Scary

It's almost Halloween and once that time comes around I like to drink Mexican hot chocolate and watch spooky music videos. Here are a few of my favorites!

"If I Had A Heart" by Fever Ray. Karen Dreijer Anderssen has awesome skull makeup that would be an awesome Halloween look! This video is dark and strange and creeps me out in a good way!

"What's a Girl To Do" by Bat For Lashes. Creepy Donnie Darko-esque animals doing sweet BMX jumps on a darkened forest road? Why that's enough to make me sleep with my covers tucked underneath my feet!

"How I Know" by Toro Y Moi. Not really creepy, but it looks almost like a Scooby Doo haunted house adventure gone wrong. It is complete with weird ghost sisters, nerdy group of boyhood friends, and choreographed dance numbers. Totally Halloweeny!

"They Made Frogs Smoke 'Til They Exploded" by Múm. Weird Henry Darger-like drawings of kids and animals, check. Drawing scary faces on said kids and animals and making them bleed, check. Strange Icelandic wizard music, triple check! Múm is absolutely experimental, but this video makes me feel weird inside!

Hope those don't keep you up all night and happy almost Halloween!

People I Would Have Stalked In A Past Life: Francoise Hardy

Francoise Hardy

Staying with the whole French thing, I disclose one of my most treasured style icons. Francoise Hardy is pretty much the coolest person ever; I love her music and her style and she just exudes cool. I strive to look as fabulous is t-shirts and jeans as she did, but I continue to fail! Francoise whole appeal was effortlessly chic, something the French do very well. There's something about spending your days eating great food, looking cool, and having no expectations of being nice to people that appeals to me. And how they do that with all that cheese and wine I have no idea. Most cheese and wine encounters I have usually end up somewhere on or around the toilet, so maybe that's why they're all so thin. That's it, I've solved the mystery! You really can't go wrong with a loose blouse, jeans, leather jacket, and ankle boots. It always looks good, and since most of these items are really in this season you can find them allover the place at reasonable prices. Finish off your look with a liquid liner cat-eye and you're good to go. Just don't be like me and mess up a thousand times with practically immovable black liquid liner residue, smudged all over my face resulting in everyone asking you later that night if I've been domestically abused.
